DIANE SIMPSON / THE CHICAGO CULTURAL CENTER
This catalogue chronicles the work of Chicago based artist Diane Simpson, and accompanies her retrospective exhibition at the Chicago Cultural Center. The cover features a grid of die-cut perforated lines, in reference to the graph paper that the artist uses for working drawings of her sculpture. This same grid carries through the book as the underlying structure, and occasionally reappears as dashed lines that help organize the text and imagery. These dashes also suggest stitching, as much of the artwork is in part inspired by historical articles of clothing.
