| Maria Pergay: Between Ideas & Design DEMISCH DANANT Designed under the creative direction of Mikon van Gastel, this publication is the first such monograph to document the life and work of French designer Maria Pergay. The project began in collaboration with the author. We sorted through copious amounts of accumulated imagery, ranging from professional photographs and amateur snapshots to magazine clippings and sketches. The six primary chapters of the book were interrupted by critical and photographic essays printed on contrasting paper stocks, including newsprint and a coated, high gloss sheet. As Pergay is known primarily for her work in stainless steel, backgrounds of silver metallic ink were used to unify the disparate images and structure the page. Helvetica Neue was chosen as the sole font family, due to its timeliness and flexibility. |
