| Clogs “Lantern” BRASSLAND RECORDS The only direction given by the client was that the band members’ photographs be incorporated on the exterior of the cd case. Thus, the provided images — photographs of super 8 film projected in a darkened room — became the springboard for the overall design treatment. The individual images were stacked to resemble a reel of film; their softened edges were retained and their black backgrounds extended to dictate the somber palette. The cover illustration is a manipulated portion of a centuries-old diagram that abstractly suggests — through a sort of flow chart — the diverse influences that come to form the music of Clogs. The use of a compass on the cd face and tray image of a lighthouse lantern were more literal references to the album’s seafaring theme. |
