Unconventional thinking and a rigorous pursuit of typographic refinement and expression are Roy Brooks’s hallmarks. As an architecture student at North Carolina State University, Brooks realized his relative indifference to the program when he discovered that his creativity was in fact ignited by the energy and challenges of the university’s graphic design department. Upon earning his bachelor’s degree in 1997, Brooks began his professional relationship with cultural institutions by working as a designer at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York. Later, as an employee of Pentagram, he worked on a variety of projects for the Guggenheim Museum, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, and the Dallas Museum of Art. In 2005 Brooks followed his entrepreneurial spirit by founding Fold Four design in Chicago.
